Bountiful Gets More Than Its Share of Wind Outages

We work all over Bountiful and North Salt Lake, and the pattern is consistent: the closer a neighborhood sits to the foothills, the more often it loses power to a windstorm. Downed lines and tripped substations during a canyon wind event or a heavy winter snowstorm can leave a street dark for hours — sometimes overnight, sometimes longer. A portable generator is better than nothing, but it requires you to be home, awake, and outside in the wind to set it up. A home standby generator is built for exactly this situation: it's installed permanently outside your home, tied into your existing natural gas or propane line, and wired through an automatic transfer switch that detects the outage and starts the unit within seconds — no manual setup required, even if you're not home.

Sizing, Installation, and What Comes After

Not every home needs the same generator. We evaluate your electrical load and talk through whether you want whole-home backup — AC, well pump, everything running as normal — or a smaller unit that covers essential circuits like heat and refrigeration at a lower upfront cost. All of our installs use Generac equipment, since we're a factory-authorized Generac dealer, which keeps parts availability and warranty coverage straightforward. On the installation side, expect an electrical permit, a gas line sized correctly for the unit's draw, a concrete pad, and transfer switch wiring into your panel — and if your panel is older or undersized for the added load, we'll say so upfront and can handle a panel upgrade as part of the project rather than a surprise later. Most Bountiful installations are finished in a day or two.

A generator that's never maintained is a generator that might not start when a windstorm actually hits, so we recommend an annual service visit. Because this is a significant investment, we offer financing through Synchrony Bank — traditional fixed-rate plans as well as 0%-interest terms for qualified buyers — on top of the written, upfront pricing we give before any work starts.
