Lighting & Ceiling Fan Installation
for Salt Lake Valley Homes
Interior and Exterior Lighting Upgrades
Old fixtures, dim rooms, and dark entryways are some of the most common reasons homeowners across the Wasatch Front call us. We install and upgrade lighting throughout the home — kitchens, bathrooms, living spaces — and outside, including entryway fixtures, soffit lighting, and landscape lighting circuits. Every fixture is wired to a properly sized circuit, not spliced into whatever's closest.
Recessed and Can Lighting
Recessed lighting is one of the most requested upgrades we see, especially in kitchens and living rooms with older, single-fixture ceiling boxes. Adding cans means cutting into the ceiling, running new wiring, and — depending on your attic access and insulation type — selecting fixtures rated for direct insulation contact. We plan the layout for even light coverage before cutting anything, so you're not left with an uneven spread once the drywall dust settles.
Ceiling Fans, Including Rooms That Never Had One
Swapping an existing ceiling fan is straightforward. Adding one where a room has only ever had a light fixture — or nothing at all — is a different job entirely. A ceiling fan needs a fan-rated electrical box that can support the weight and the wobble of a spinning fan; a standard light-fixture box isn't built for that load and can fail over time. If there's no existing ceiling box, we identify or add the framing and support needed before mounting anything, so the fan is actually secure, not just screwed into drywall.
Smart Lighting and Dimmers
We also install smart switches, dimmers, and app- or voice-controlled lighting for homeowners who want more control without rewiring the whole house. Not every dimmer works with every bulb type or fixture, and pairing the wrong dimmer with certain LED fixtures causes flickering or buzzing — we match the hardware to what's actually installed.
Why This Isn't a Weekend DIY Project
Lighting and fan work looks approachable, but it involves working inside live circuits, ceiling boxes rated for specific loads, and — for anything beyond a straight fixture swap — a permit in most jurisdictions. It's also easy to overload a single circuit with multiple new fixtures without realizing it until a breaker starts tripping. If you're also seeing tripped breakers or warm switches elsewhere in the house, that may point to a broader issue — see our electrical repair page for troubleshooting help.
